1365 Treat Blvd, Walnut Creek, CA
Description: This ride has everything...from rolling rural hills, to small towns, across two bridges with excellent protected bike lanes, through industrial areas past a sugar mill and oil refineries, along railroad tracks and ending up in modern civilization!
Visiting the tiny town of Port Costa is like stepping back in time. There are many preserved buildings from the 1880's when it served as a port for sugar, hay, wheat and potatoes. Benicia was California's first capitol city and there you can see the small capitol building. It has a lovely waterfront as well.
Once we cross the Benicia-Martinez bridge, we'll ride through industrial areas, past C&H Sugar Mill with spooky broken windows, along railroad tracks and past oil refineries. There are no fumes, however!
