We ride fast streets with lots of vehicle traffic and try to avoid bike lanes so we can take the entire lane - during rush hour - it's a rush!
Our goal is to educate both bicyclists and motorists while asserting our right to use the streets, according to the California Vehicle Code, which allows bicyclists to ride in the center of any "car lane" that isn't wide enough for both vehicles and bicycles to safety share side-by-side. Fortunately we have lots of those!
Bring bright lights! Especially tail lights. We're riding in the middle of lanes where motorists expect to travel 40+ mph.
Our cruising speed ranges from 16 - 18 mph.
