Re: [BayAreaCycling] Meetup details changed: World Naked Bike Ride San Francisco Southern Hemisphere Edition

Safety should be the paramount issue here. If drivers are already killing fully clothed cyclists, what will they do when distracted by naked cyclists? While I am an ardent admirer of the human form, I think this is a bad idea that threatens the safety and physical well-being of all on the ride. Better to hang out on some nude beach in Marin than risk life and limb on the public roads.

Two things for which Scandinavian countries are known are public
nudity (in parks and on beaches - weather permitting) and high rates
of cycling. So nude cycling sounds to me like the kind of thing they'd
try in, say, Denmark, where they have excellent bicycle facilities,
and thus families and people of all ages enjoy cycling both for
recreation and practical purposes. Go ahead and enjoy your ride! And
keep getting your message out.

No, not appropriate under any circumstances.  This nonsense is very
misguided and counterproductive for cycling's image as a family
recreation and youth sport.
