Film Group Update: Additional Crew Members for Short Film in SF in April, Next Film Exchange

Additional Crew Members Needed to Assist with Short Film in SF in April, Premier at Castro Theater

We’re looking for some additional crew for a short film being shot in April (probably on Sat. April 20 and Sun. April 21 or possibly the following weekend) in San Francisco. We already have the director, DP, Associate Producer, and editor.  Now we’re looking for additional crew to help out during the shoot as grips or electrical, art design, make-up, sound recording, and post-production sound and audio.  We are having an initial crew meeting for planning and so crew members can get to know each other on Monday, March 25 at 7:30 in San Francisco in the outer Richmond district.  I’ll send location and directions to those coming to the meeting. If you are interested, but can’t make the meeting, let me know, so I can contact you personally and add you to the crew.

The short is being produced by Changemakers Productions through Scary Cow and is also being used to pitch a full length feature to get funding, with half the budget already raised.  Called THE SUICIDE PARTY, the film is about a once successful businessman who can’t find work after a layoff and is about to lose his house and everything he holds dear. He decides to hold a suicide party with the help of his friends, and if he can raise enough to save his house and get back on his feet, he’ll live. If not he’ll end it all.  The announcement of the party leads to a media frenzy and unexpected results.

This is an all volunteer project, and the short will be premiered at the Castro Theater in March.  There may be an opportunity to be part of the full-length paid project.

Please contact me indicating your interest with your email and phone number for further information and a copy of the script at [address removed].  Let me know if you want to attend our initial crew meeting on March 25.

Next Film Exchange. The next Film Exchange, which is like a focus or discussion group to share ideas and get feedback on whatever you are working on, will be in San Francisco in mid-April, on the 17th, 23rd, or 24th, once I know what else is going on in the film community to avoid conflicts. I’ll announce this formally in about a week.
