New Paradigm to Manage Large Scale Data Centers and Clouds

With the wide adoption of virtualization, containers, private and public clouds, enterprise IT ends up with much more systems and artifacts to manage, monitor, and report. How would you effectively organize these artifacts and find them quickly and easily? How do you know the big picture of your infrastructure without logging into different management systems? How do you automate your infrastructure painlessly without writing code?

In this talk, Steve will show you how to use the cloud search engine to retrieve inventory data and events from different management systems and clouds, and make them searchable as easily as Google does the Web. He will also demo how to use the tool to address daily operation, critical monitoring, and automation tasks. It’s an essential tool for system administers to manage large systems.

Bio: Steve Jin is the founder of DoubleCloud  Inc., focusing on infrastructure search engine. He authored the VMware VI and vSphere SDK book published by Prentice Hall in 2009, and created the de facto open source vijava API for managing VMware vSphere, which are widely used in products from EMC, VMware, Dell, Cisco, Netapp, etc.

Elastic load balancing for auto-scaling across multiple clouds

Between monolithic and microservice applications, enterprises now deliver applications across a multi-cloud environment (bare metal, virtualized, container, or public clouds environments). When you have your apps in a diverse environment, how do you direct your end-user traffic across multiple sites/locations? How do you make sure you auto-scale not only your load balancing resources but also your backend application resources within these locations to be able to handle application load?

In this session, Manas Barooah will discuss how to consistently deploy, run, manage, and scale your applications across multiple clouds regardless of the infrastructure you choose to run your applications.

Bio: Manas Barooah is a principal architect at Avi Networks, Inc where he is involved in the design and implementation of the Avi Vantage Platform for Software Load Balancers. Prior to Avi Networks, Inc he was a member of Cisco's Data Center Business Unit (via the acquisition of Andiamo Systems) where he worked in next generation features for both IP and Storage Area Networks. He believes that Cloud (public/private) and Software Defined Data Center are a major disruption in the Enterprise Data Center. The one click IT model for automated deployment/monitoring of Data Center components is the future and that entities should interoperate and co-operate for automated deployments.
