FUNDAMENTALS at 6:15: Logging in Windows Azure Web Sites and Cloud Services
MAIN PRESENTATION At 6:45:
Logging with Event Source, ETW, and SLAB
Logs are a hassle to deal with; they have no real structure, and it's hard to tell what's in there, especially if you didn't create them. The sheer number of files and types of logs is
overwhelming. Why is consuming logs so difficult? How can the new Event Source class in .NET 4.5 make logging better? How can the Semantic Logging Application Block (SLAB) help?
I'll answer these questions and show how easy it is to create structured logging. If time permits, I'll show how to leverage Reactive Extensions (Rx) to filter the event stream before it's persisted. I’ll show this in the context of Windows Azure services, but the information can be used with any .NET application.
Robin Shahan is a Microsoft Windows Azure MVP with over 25 years of experience developing complex, business-critical applications. As the VP of Technology for GoldMail, she migrated their entire infrastructure to Windows Azure in 2 months, reducing their infrastructure costs by 90%. She is now a Windows Azure consultant and partner with Solliance. Robin is the only person ever awarded an MVP award for ClickOnce deployment,
and she continues to provide help with that technology as time permits. You can follow @RobinDotNet on twitter and read her blog at http://robindotnet.wordpress.com .

Logging in Windows Azure Web Sites and Cloud Services
Come a half hour early (6:15 PM) to enjoy our .NET FUNdamentals series.
Robin will demonstrate how to handle diagnostics and logging in Windows Azure and Cloud Services. She'll talk about how to enable and configure this capability and examine the results.
