A Newton Center Bridge Party

  • November 30 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please come out and join us for a pleasant evening of competitive party bridge in  Newton Centre.  Wednesday night bridge here has been a multi-year Metrowest tradition; it is a nice quiet spot with a fireplace, good food, ample table space.  The more the merrier, so long as you know how to play bridge and love it.

You don't need a partner to play, and if there is not a multiple of four playing, we have worked out rotations so that everyone gets a fair turn to play.

We prefer to have at least 5 players signed up by 5pm on the day of the game, otherwise we may cancel. We can still play with four if we re-confirm. Check this space at 5pm on the day if quorum questions exist. Out of courtesy, please do not sign up casually, nor cancel out on the day of event except in emergencies.

You should know Contract Bridge rules and basic bidding to play this week. No formal training is to be offered, but this is a social, casual event. To assist novices, bidding advice and meanings will be openly discussed on any player's request.

ACBL Yellow Card is our group-standard bidding system; a novice should please take time to study all basic openings and responses, plus standard Jacoby Transfer and Stayman responses to NT openings. This is a very informal event, so if you can't remember what to bid, you can refer to the bidding notes, or just ask.
