Please join the Buffalo Vegetarian Society and Animal Advocates of WNY for a lecture with Dr. Michael Greger, M.D., the director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. We will learn the latest in human nutrition in an engaging multimedia presentation and interactive quiz show format, where Dr. Greger tests our nutrition knowledge with some surprising outcomes. Dr. Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this brand new talk of the latest in cutting-edge research. Focusing on recent studies in peer-reviewed scientific nutrition journals, Dr. Greger offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic disease.

Known as one of the most entertaining medical speakers of our time, Dr. Greger is a physician, author, and internationally recognized professional speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. He has lectured at the Conference on World Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the International Bird Flu Summit, and universities, medical schools, and conferences around the world. Dr. Greger was invited as an expert witness in defense of Oprah Winfrey at the infamous "meat defamation" trial. He is a graduate of Cornell University School of Agriculture and Tufts University School of Medicine. Currently Dr. Greger proudly serves as the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States.

Dr. Greger's presentations are described by audiences as "riveting," "spellbinding," and "brilliant," and you can always count on great wit and humor. He is author of the books BIRD FLU: A Virus of our Own Hatching, and CARBOPHOBIA: The Scary Truth Behind American's Low Carb Craze and has produced nutrition and cooking DVDs.

Following the presentation, Dr. Greger will do a book signing. His books and new nutrition DVDs will be available at his table directly after his lecture. All proceeds go to charity.

If you and/or your guests are participating in the potluck reception, each person is required to bring a VEGAN dish to share that feeds 6 - 8 people. Please ensure that is it animal free. VEGAN means no beef, poultry and fish. It also means no dairy or eggs. Please watch for hidden dairy products like casein and whey. Jell-o and marshmallows are NOT vegan.

Please bring your recipe to share with others by printing it on a small card (around 3x5 or 4x6) and placing it next to your dish.

For recipe ideas go to http://www.chooseveg.... where you can explore hundreds of mouthwatering vegan recipes, ranging from Chipotle Split-Pea Soup to Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies!
