Pontneddfechan Waterfalls Walk

  • Waterfalls Centre, Pontneathvaughan Road,

Pontneddfechan, Nr Glynneath,, SA11 5NR (map)

    51.755630 -3.596333

  • This walk is all about waterfalls!!

On this walk we will start earlier than usual (9am), and therefore it's an optional stopover the night before. My thoughts on accomodation is local youth hostel, B&B. I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts / suggestions though?

    Start: Pontneddfechan
    Start (OS ref): SN[masked]
Parking: Anywhere near the Waterfalls Centre, Pontneddfechan
    Map (1:25,000): Explorer OL12 - Brecon Beacons
Distance: 12.0 miles (19.3 km) (note: the trackfiles show 9.3 miles but the actual trackfile was 12 miles - this is due to gradient and one way tracks down to some waterfalls)
    Time: 5-7 hours
    Difficulty: Hard
    Climbing: 1,300 metres
Hazards: Steep climbs and descents, slippy in many places. Care needed at waterfalls
    Refreshments: Pontneddfechan
    More Info & Map:

It's a long circular walk and a good steady pace is going to be needed if we are to finish in daylight, a few of us already have head torches, head torches are a must carry item when walking at this time of the year.

Hi Ian. Defo interested if we went up on the Saturday and stayed over. Car share? Would prefer sightseeing a la local pub. I have a head torch. Get back to me. Mark.

I'm thinking for those that wish to travel over on the Saturday, we could maybe all meet up and do a shorter walk on the Saturday afternoon or do some local sightseeing together...thoughts?
