Emberton Country Park (8 miles circular walk)

Emberton Country Park is situated close to the village of Emberton and the market town of Olney, the Park is ideally located between the counties of Bucks, Northants and Beds. There is easy access from J14 of the M1 and close by is the new city of Milton Keynes. The park opened in 1965. The area was originally a gravel works, but has now been transformed into an attractive parkland setting covering 200 acres which is welcoming to visitors and encourages peace and relaxation.

Day: Saturday - as I'm taking my Dad for an all you can eat Indian Buffet on the Sunday :-P

County/Area: Buckinghamshire (but very close to the borders of Northamptonshire & Bedfordshire)

Park Gates Open: 9:00 am

Walk Starts: 9:45 am

Length: 8 miles / 13 km

Start: Emberton Country Park, Olney Road, Emberton. MK46 5FJ

Parking: £4 per vehicle and you pay on entry to the park (recommend car share)

Refreshments/Toilets: Adjacent to the main car park in the Visitors Centre. We also pass public toilets in Olney at the Market Square and in Emberton at the Bell & Bear Pub.

Walking Route: Emberton Country Park - Olney - Clifton Reynes - Emberton - Filgrave - Emberton Country Park

Hazards: A few of us did a full reccy of this walk last night, Tuesday 24th June. Our walk takes us through several fields with a herd of Bulls in each of them. The fields are pretty big and most of the time the Bulls just carried on eating ... but if you don't like Bulls then this walk may not be for you? Few stiles to climb over and foot bridges to walk across. We cross the A509 at Emberton, this is a single lane carriageway and can be a busy road, but where we cross there is a central reservation, which makes crossing much safer and we have good visibility of cars approaching from either direction.

Loved this walk, nice old worldly villages, old stone paths, lakes, and cows and was lucky enough to miss most of the rain. Great group of people to enjoy it all with, cheers guys

Made it to the summit of Mount Toubkal :-D Tough climb together with the altitude and difficult to keep upright in the scree coming down. Sorry legs weren't up to Clophill tonight. Hopefully back with you next week after Uni visits this weekend.

I'm going to have to pull out of this one - too much on this weekend! It is my birthday on Saturday, so I will bring suitable refreshments to the next walk I can do as penance

A bit far for me to travel for such a short distance. Hopefully the organisation of the leader of another group will be good and I'll be doing a 20-mile walk that day.
