Enjoy a healthy stroll along the coast at Cottesloe and soak up the magnificent ocean views. Group meets at 9am on the bike track next to the intersection of Marine Pde and Sydney St (see photo) South Cott. Brisk walk up to Cott main beach and back (4km), approx 60 mins return. Walkers welcome to go at their own pace. Dog friendly and a cuppa afterwards.
We warm up by first walking once around Manning Lake (easy 20-minute walk with plenty of time to have a chat). Then we climb the stairs... slowly... It's a great aerobic workout and fitness test! If you can't do stairs, you have option of doing another lap of the lake. But there's a great panoramic view if you reach the lookout at the top of the stairs! After we catch our breath, we continue the walk along a crushed-limestone track through the bush, arriving at another lookout, where the group does some exercises; usually step-ups, push-ups or whatever you fancy (again, it's optional). The stairway is located at the south end of Davilak Avenue at Manning Park in Hamilton Hill. It has 192 steps, 50 landings and rest spots. We meet in the carpark at the base of the Manning Park Stairs, Fridays 9.30am. (At the edge of the carpark that is...look towards the lake and you'll see us. If you spot a group of very athletic youngsters in short-shorts, that's not us!) The walk takes just over an hour. Bring a bottle of water, hat, windcheater, rain jacket... There is a drinking fountain and toilets nearby. We walk all weathers, but we recommend you drink plenty of water before the walk, especially in summer. New members are very welcome!

Volunteers from all walks of life get together to make re-useable fabric "Boomerang Bags" using recycled materials, to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. The bags are given away to friends, family, colleagues, bagless strangers and so on, as a plastic bag alternative that can be used and reused, or passed on to others in need. The bags create a platform to start conversations, make friends, up-cycle materials and work towards shifting society’s throw away mentality to a more sustainable revolution of re-use – one community, needle and thread at a time! Thanks to wonderful donations from the local community, all materials are provided. BYO sewing machine if you would like to help out by sewing. No experience necessary, experienced sewists are available to help you if you are just starting out! Plenty of things for non-sewists to do as well.
