This group connects social scientists, data analysts, and new researchers interested in the intersection between behavioral science and sports. Example topics in this area include:
-Coach and player decision-making (e.g. why do football coaches choose to punt?) -Intragroup/intergroup processes (e.g. can "team culture" be measured?) -Social cognition (e.g. are umpires racially biased?). -Cognitive biases (e.g. are "hot streaks" an illusion?)
When our group reaches a reasonable number of members, I will schedule a meetup event(s).
The primary goal is to share expertise and collaborate together to explore new and exciting research topics. A familiarity with statistics and data analytics (e.g. R, Python, SPSS) is recommended, but not required.
