So what is the bible really? And what do we do with it?
This is a group that’s going to talk about the bible. Original right? Only this is a safe place. You can be a skeptic, doubter, questioner, ex-Christian, atheist, agnostic, LGBTQ or any other group that has typically been marginalized by traditional religions. We believe that getting out of your box and experiencing diversity of thought about the Christian faith is how you grow and evolve spiritually. Expect conversations about God like you've never had inside church walls. We don’t just want to know what you believe, but who you are and how you got here.
The following is Okay: * Asking sincere questions from a posture of humility. If it's asked sincerely and from a posture of humility, there aren't many questions that are off limits. * Giving your perspective. We're all there to provide our perspective and listen to others. * Talking about past hurts and painful experiences. We hope you feel safe to share about how your journey has left you with a few bumps and bruises.
The following is not okay: * Disrespect. How do you know if it's disrespectful? If the other person tells you so. Apologize and find other ways to communicate that are authentic but not disrespectful. * Judgment. We've probably all been "Should'ed" on enough in our life. And there's plenty of places where we can "Should" on others if we have that need. Let's not do that here. Share your experience but try not to tell others what they should or need to do. * Being an Asshole. In his book on assholes, Aaron James defines that as "allowing yourself to systematically enjoy special advantages in interpersonal relations out of an entrenched sense of entitlement that immunizes you against the complaints of other people."
