Wanoga SP via Storm King and Full Tyler's Traverse - Advanced-Intermediate MTB

  • to
  • Tyler's Traverse Trailhead on Rd 41

Trailhead is 4 miles down Rd 41 (Conklin Rd) from Cascade Lakes Hwy, Bend, OR (map)

    43.962772 -121.428960

  • Central Oregon refuses to give way to the snows of winter, so let's squeeze in another high country ride before transitioning to winter sports!  This ride will be weather dependent, so please check back for any location change do to trail conditions.

A fun and challenging advanced-intermediate loop that includes plenty of climbing, technical sections, fast & fun descents and great scenery.  From the Tyler's Traverse trailhead, we'll ride the road 2 miles before climbing Storm King and Funner up to Wanoga Sno-Park.  After a rest at the Steve Larson Trailhead Memorial, we'll proceed to the top of Tyler's Traverse via the Tiddlywinks and Kiwa Butte trails.  Now the real fun begins, as we enjoy miles of fantastic downhill on the newly completed Tyler's Traverse....recently described as a "swoopy downhill pump track"!  We'll arrive back at the cars with stupid grins plastered on our faces......lunch will follow at Parrilla.

We will ride at a moderate pace.  Ideal for the advanced-intermediate rider, or the advanced rider more interested in seeing some of COTA's best trailwork than moving up the strava rankings.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the ride specifics.

:( well hey it was a great route you picked out Jay and it was very cold up around Tiddly/Tylers. Other then that trails are in good shape.

I won't be attending. The weather looks better this morning but with Jay's last post I've decided to spend time with the family instead.

I don't see any improvement in the weather forecast, so I am going to cancel this ride. I can't cancel on meetup until I access my computer in the morning. Enjoy your day and I hope to see everyone again very soon!

    Are we a go?

Well, the weather forecast for Saturday is dismal....a 37 degree high, snow and 30mph winds IN BEND. The conditions in the Cascades will be more intense. Since this was a "beat the snow" ride, there's a good chance it will be cancelled. I will monitor the weather and cancel tonight if conditions warrant. Please check back before heading out in the morning. The forecast looks better for Sunday, so I encourage everyone to sign up for David's ride.....

Yeah, we have had a few snow rides, but no more than an inch or so. This one is likely to be different, I had to sign up for this!
