I found some good riding last night up a little higher than you would think (upper whoops at 5500 feet). I had fresh tracks coming down corn snow that was very rideable and fun. We won't be doing upper whoops as the climb was pretty tough. Instead we are going to carpool from Cascade lakes brewery up to where FS RD. 4613 intersects with Century drive. You can meet us there if you know where that is. From there we will ride our bikes up 4613 till we feel we are about half way done. This should be a good gradual climb. I anticipate icy conditions on the climb so if you have studs, put them on. We will probably cut across at 830 or 4180. If we use 830 we can go to the top of a butte there that has an awesome view and then take Dinamo hum to Kiwa Butte to Tiddlywinks to 4130 back to the cars. If we take 4180 we just omit the Dinamo hum part.
We should not get any higher than 5600 feet on this ride, or lower than 4800. I anticipate a little walking on a few climbs but the general idea is to gain elevation on the road and have fun going down the trails. It is possible we could have fresh tracks coming down! You need to feel secure on your fatbike going downhill, this is not a beginner ride. We should be less than three hours so this is a daytime ride but we are right at the end of the day so pack a light in your pack just in case. I will do some scouting in the next few days to be sure this is a good choice for riding and could change details so keep an eye out.
Afterwards we can enjoy food/drink at the lodge...
