    In this image, I experimented with a macro shot of a blown-glass trinket set on a light table, then created alternating strips of the image inverted by color (similar to making bands of a color negative).

    Stunning. Wow! At first - I have to say I wasn't impressed by what I thought was just some fancy Photoshop fiddling. But then you explained that the image was, in fact, continuous across the bands and that it was only the colors that were inverted in alternate bands. That's when the wow-factor hit me. Your eye is completely fooled by the abrupt color transitions - so that the object looks fragmented. But now that I figure it out - I see the object as a whole. And the complementary colors just pop off the page. Never seen anything quite like it before. Nice.
