Here's the latest update. I'm inviting members of this group, since I?m a member of the organization hosting this event and it will include a short featuring some of our members which we produced. Invitations have gone out to over a dozen film, community, and business groups. Here are details.

Yes We CAN, a new network for social, economic, and practical change is hosting its next gathering of community and business leaders, speakers, teachers, and catalysts for change on September 21, 2010 from 7-10 p.m. at the Waterfront Hotel at Jack London Square in Oakland.

The gathering will include the group?s latest projects, including a trailer about the new TV series from producer Stephanie Slade, EXPRESSIONS OF PEACE; a pilot of for the VERY NEXT NEW THING TV show, featuring Michael Rogers, about creating a collaborative democracy from producer Gini Scott Graham; PEACE OUT, a humorous short about creating a peace event; and Sharon Collins?s trailer about her powerful new documentary, RICHMOND REDEMPTION, featuring a summer sports camp and youth who make videos and blogs from Richmond?s Ryse Center?s Ditgital Justice team.

The schedule will be:

CAN is an acronym for Community Action Network, a new meeting group like MeetUp that creates events and actions in the community to promote social, economic, and practical change for the underserved Bay Area communities. The film makers from United Media Productions, a newly formed 501(c)(3) company, will be hosting the event along with Roots Force Productions, Slade Digital, Changemakers Productions, and Collins-Management.

The event will be held at the Waterfront Hotel in the Spinnaker Room at Jack London Square in Oakland. The Waterfront Hotel is at the end of Washington Street, 1 block West of Broadway. Go to the left for the Spinnaker Room. There is parking on the street or in the nearby parking facility. The cost is $10 at the door.
