Winter Solstice Drum Circle

A Gathering for Ceremony, Celebration and Community

~ FREE EVENT ~ A "give away from Spirit"

The Center For Shamanic Healing and the Oakland Center For Spiritual Living invite you to an Solstice evening of Community Drumming and Shamanic Ritual.

Please join us for this sacred time of honoring the darkness and the light as we journey and vision through drumming, chanting, and/or movement ~ whatever moves your Spirit. All are welcome, no experience necessary. All drum types welcome. Rattles, shakers, and other instruments also welcome. For more information, please contact Kent Dorsey at kent@CenterForShamanicHealing.com

This Drum Circle is a bit different from the usual Center For Shamanic Healing offerings. Bringing many traditions together, we are focused on using the beat of the circle's drums to connect to Spirit with intention.

The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper

So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,
And when the new year's sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us - Listen!!
All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, fest, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome Yule!!

We ask that you stay in circle for the whole event.
