What we're about

This is a group for anyone who would like to get together for music classes for learning the ukulele and for jams to get together and play. All levels are welcome.

We have classes that include instruction for beginners who've never played an instrument before, to more advanced lessons and more challenging songs. We also have monthly jams where we play whatever songs folks want to play, and also go on outings to perform for seniors and at other public performances.

Many of us are associated with the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists (BFUU) and you're invited to come sing and play along at our Sunday services when we often include a ukulele number, or to come to other BFUU music events such as dances and acoustic jams where uke playing is welcome. But you don't have to-- you can participate in any of the church events or none and just come for the fellowship and fun of jamming and learning uke! UU is a non-creedal religion that welcomes all religions and agnostics and atheists are also welcome.

The ukulele is such a fantastic instrument for learning music and for getting people together. Join the ukulele revolution!

Third Friday Ukulele Jam!

Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists

Come join in on the Third Friday Ukulele Jam! Bring your ukulele, music stand, and be ready to sing and play! We sit around and play and sing a bunch of songs-- whatever we feel like. It's helpful to bring the "Rise Up Singing" and "Rise Again" songbooks if you have them as we often sing out of these books. A few minutes of basic instruction is provided if we have newbies, so don't be shy, and loaner ukes are available. Come to our weekly Monday classes for slower practicing and learning. Folks are also welcome to come and join in on the singing and don't have to play an instrument. $5-20 suggested donation; bring a snack to share if you like; no one turned away for lack of funds. We'll be in the "Fireside Room" on the second floor. Go through the wooden gate on 1606 Bonita, and up the stairs on the left, and follow the sounds of ukulele strumming. NOTE: The building for the Uke Jam is on 1606 Bonita, BEHIND the big Fellowship Hall that's on the corner of Cedar and Bonita.
