We've kept the structure of our meetups informal because "emerging" tech implies this space is emerging/evolving, no one is an "expert "yet and we can all learn from each other. So continuing in that same spirit, we have invited folks who are deeply immersed in this space (AV pioneers, researchers/engineers, car manufacturers, city officials and others) for an open discussion on Tesla's recent crash and get their perspective on what's holding us back from full autonomy and what this means for the future of transportation. In other news! We lost our usual venue because of remodeling delays BUT the awesome folks at The Office stepped up and have offered us their cafe space for free. Woot! The Office is a fantastic local co-working space with free WiFi, conveniently located close to the Downtown Berkeley BART station. And best of all, they are offering an exclusive discount just for our members.. more details when we meet! But we have very limited space. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update your RSVPs if you can't make it so we can get folks off the waiting list and into this awesome meetup. (I hate to do this but we will start kicking out the chronic no-shows...you know who you are!)
PS: We are looking for food/drinks sponsors so if you'd like to feed this cool group of folks, please holler/message me ASAP :) PPS: If you're wondering about other ways you can support our Meetup, please use the "Chip in" link on the Meetup group page to keep the magic going.
