Public speaking is a very useful skill to develop in life. It not only helps you to do things such as presentations at work and university but also develops your inner qualities in other areas of life, allowing you also to improve your social relationships with people, as you learn how to express yourself better.
Even if you're not interested in public speaking, Michael guarantees that by attending this session you will build your confidence.
Shy, anxious and introverted individuals are most welcome!
These events are all about getting rid of your fears and practicing public speaking. You will be a part of a very friendly, supportive and non-judgmental environment and you will be encouraged to make mistakes and to learn from your experience.
The workshops will have a very structured and practical approach giving every speaker plenty of opportunities to speak. You know what they say... practice makes perfect!
In this workshop you will practice some of the core skills of a confident public speaker including:
· Breath and pace
· Voice projection
· Physicality (body language and eye contact)
· Content (structure)
· Intention and congruency
· Emotions and tone variety
What to expect:
The workshop will begin with warm ups and stress diffusing exercises, after which public speaking exercises will be conducted. These exercises will increase in difficulty (subject to the speaker's comfort zone). At the end of each exercise/speech, the class will, primarily, discuss the strengths of the speaker, followed by potential areas for improvement.
Should you prepare or bring anything:
No. Just a willingness to grow and challenge yourself! That is the best to overcome your fears.
Refreshments and pizza will be provided.
If you have a speech you want to practice, feel free to prepare it beforehand and deliver it in class (this is optional).
This is not about moulding every speaker into a one size fits all model. You will not be shaped into someone who you are not. Michael's principles are grounded in authenticity, encouraging attendees to get in touch with themselves on a deeper level, which as a result enhances their communication skills and delivery.
In the session you will aim to identify what is authentic and natural for you and to focus on bringing more of that out, enabling you to identify to your natural speaking style.
The this is achieved is through encouragement to explore being vulnerable and experiment with how it feels to have 'your guard' down. Being vulnerable is a strength, not weakness.
