Santa Ana River Ride (Part A) and Lunch

100-214 Superior Ave

Santa Ana River Ride (Part A) and Lunch Santa Ana River Trail Superior Parking Lot at the corner of Superior Avenue and P.C.H. Saturday, October 3rd, 2020; 8:30 am to 12:30 pm Join us for our fifth bike ride after our spring break. This is a casual ride. We will ride up the Santa Ana River Trail to Centennial Regional Park at Edinger then turn back and go to Channel Park for lunch. The distance is eighteen miles for the round trip. We will begin in the Sunset View Park at Superior and P.C.H. See the trail route in the photos below. There are restrooms on the HB Bike Trail just across the Santa Ana River and at Centennial Regional Park. Fun riding within socializing distance is our goal. Come enjoy the company of other like-minded riders. Social distancing is the personal discretion of each rider. Please be considerate and stay home if you have any signs of illness or uncomfortable feelings. There are a few parking options. I recommend that you park in the free Hoag parking lot just to the east of the parking lot we are meeting in. I spoke with an employee. He said that if the lot is not coned off, we should use it. If you want to be safe, to the east of Hoag's big free lot, Hoag has a parking structure that charges $5 for 4 hours, $8 for all day. The parking lot in which we are gathering charges $2.55 per hour using the app parkmobile.com zone 9755. You'll want to download the app and set up an account before Saturday morning. There is a residential area on the south side of PCH. Parking spaces are difficult to find but some are available. I discourage parking in the strip mall across PCH from where we are gathering. They do tow. Up Superior, there is a commercial area at Superior Avenue and Hospital Road with ample parking. We expect to start at 8:30 am and finish sometime later depending on the number of riders and our social closeness. Bring a helmet. Pack a lunch or stop along the ride to pick-up lunch. In the strip mall near Channel Park, there is Jack in the Box, Chronic Tacos, and Fiji Yama. This event is hosted by Jack Miller. Please use the Meetup messaging system to communicate with Jack or the participating members. The Meetup platform has a great messaging system so we can interact and discuss parking, lunch, and other issues among all RSVPd members. Dealing individually with a number of texts and emails is just not viable while commencing and during an event. Handling multiple Meetup groups also adds complexity, so everyone should RSVP using the Orange County Singles for Christ Meetup group. https://www.meetup.com/OC-Singles-for-Christ/events/ By voluntarily attending, you assume the risks of the event and agree to release our organization, the event host, and other participants from claims for any and all injuries or other losses sustained during this event.

Corona del Mar Beach Walk and Lunch

3001 Ocean Blvd

Corona del Mar Beach Walk and Lunch Inspiration Point 3001 Ocean Boulevard, Corona del Mar, CA Saturday, October 24th, 2020; 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Join us for another walk on the beautiful beaches of Newport Coast. We'll meet at Inspiration Point in Corona del Mar. We'll walk down to the beach and over to Pirates Cove. We'll cross Corona del Mar Beach and head south as far as we can walk. We have tide pools, Little Corona Beach, and Cameo Shores Beach to explore. When we reach the end we'll turn back and have lunch on the beach at a picturesque point. You will want to bring your lunch along with you. The total distance round trip is about three miles on the sand. You may want to wear a swimsuit to join me for a swim. See the trail route in the photos below. I recommend you bring sandals or shoes meant for walking in the wet sand. In sand, the straps on flip-flop sandals will grind the tops of your feet. There are restrooms at Corona del Mar Beach and Little Corona Beach. We will park on Ocean Boulevard, Marigold Avenue, Narcissus Avenue, Orchid Avenue, and Pointsettia Avenue. Come early to find a parking spot and to get to Inspiration Point on time, or catch up to us on the beach. This hike is rated beginner. However, walking in the sand is energy-consuming. Dogs are not permitted on the beach. This event is hosted by Jack Miller. Please use the Meetup messaging system to communicate with Jack or the participating members. The Meetup platform has a great messaging system so we can interact and discuss parking, lunch, and other issues among all RSVPd members.
