What we’re about
The Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay was formed in 1987, and helped to create the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) in 1988. The work of BTCEB is essential in developing the mountain biking culture and keeping trails open for local mountain biking. The BTCEB Meetup.com group was established by the Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay (btceb.org). and is a tool for bringing us all, veteran and new riders, together for a great time.
By joining BTCEB you'll be supporting grassroots mountain bike advocacy, meet other mountain bikers, and learn about great trails to ride.
STAY INFORMED with our monthly e-newsletter with all the latest events, trail work days, Youth Mountain Bike Adventure, Oakland Bike Patrol programs, social outings, and advocacy news.
VOLUNTEER FOR TRAIL WORK - it is sweat equity. Land managers appreciate reliable, competent volunteers.
COME OUT AND RIDE. We have a group ride calendar with over 4000 members and host several monthly rides. Our women-only ride, Ride Like a Girl, is on the 1st Saturday of the month. Our long-standing Youth Mountain Bike Adventure Rides roll from May to October the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Our marquee ride is the Monthly Gala Ride which occurs every 2nd Saturday of the month starting at 9:30am at one of the many East Bay parks. The Gala Rides are led by experienced local riders who know the trails and offer a group for all skill and fitness levels. Afterward, we regroup for snacks and refreshments. This is a great way to learn new trails and meet others from the east bay at your skill level.
We rely on your memberships to continue to work on issues that are important to you,
Happy Trails!

- Ride Like a Girl - Fernandez Ranch1081 Christie Rd, Martinez, CA
After last month's China Camp session, it's back to the East Bay for a mellow-yet-fun spin around Fernandez Ranch near Martinez. Fernandez Ranch is quite lovely when still green.
Join ride leader Rebecca Lewington on Saturday, April 20th, at 8:30am in the parking lot at 1081 Christie Road, Martinez, CA 94553. (The narrow road to the parking lot is a bit peculiar; watch for the parking lot on the right. If you run out of road, you've gone too far!) We'll gather up for a quick huddle to talk about the ride at about 8:45, and roll by 9:00 am.
Our route will cover about 12 miles with 1,600 feet of climbing, so be prepared for a moderate workout, but the downhills will make it all worthwhile. These trails are suitable for riders of all skill levels. We may split into two groups, one of which will go a bit further and faster.
The mission of Ride Like a Girl is to have fun, learn new trails and meet other women (cis, trans and femme) who love to mountain bike. We’ll take care of you: these are no-stress rides where no one is left behind.
Please bring your mountain bike, obviously, in good working condition. (No ebikes, please. Ride Like a Girl is strictly acoustic.) Whether you’re running tubeless tires or not, please make sure you have a spare inner tube to fit your wheels, plenty of water and some food for the trail.
We usually hang out for a while after the ride, so bring along your favorite beverages and snacks if you feel like it. And a chair!
BTCEB tirelessly advocates for better bike access on trails in the East Bay and we need your support. Please consider joining today at https://btceb.org/join-us/.
