6pm - networking, 6:15pm - meetup starts
1) Hadoop Summit debrief
lets quickly talk about interesting stuff / news we saw at the Hadoop Summit 2012 (http://hadoopsummit.org/).
2) How can Hadoop integrate with existing enterprise data warehousing solutions?
Pre 1990s hardware was critical part, in 2000s software was a differentiator, and today data is becoming a power. Data warehousing and analytics is becoming increasingly critical and has become a lifeline of many businesses. It started with traditional RDBMS, and then there were data warehouse specific databases, SMPs, MPPs/Appliances serving the data warehouses. But increasing demands in terms of data volumes, varied and very dynamic data structures and increased performance expectations, the traditional data warehouses start facing significant challenges. Organizations can scale to new levels by augmenting the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) with Hadoop and can save millions of dollars on the infrastructure.
Sheetal Dolas -- a Hortonworks Solution Architect -- will talk about how Enterprises are adopting hadoop.
Sticking to our meetup’s format, there will be no formal presentations but just the white board, Sheetal and you!
