Deep Dive into Cassandra

Cassandra is a column oriented database originally developed at Facebook and later open sourced under the Apache project. Designed for extreme scale, it is being used to run clusters with thousands of nodes that store petabytes of data. In this talk we will get an overview of Cassandra’s architecture, learn about tools to manage and query it as well as create some data models for example use cases.

Brent Theisen is a Principal Developer at Womply, a San Francisco-based technology company using Cassandra, among other technologies, to store and retrieve credit card, weather and other data for its platform to help small business owners grow, protect, and simplify their businesses.
