Many of us have faced those nasty head / crosswinds coming up Marshall Wall from the east side. So why not do it in reverse for a change of pace? It's a little more climbing, but hopefully we'll have some solid tailwinds for the back half of the ride. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28062184 Meet: 9:30 a.m. Depart: 9:45 a.m. Please check in with me when you arrive. I'll email attendees my cell number and description the night before the ride. Stops / re-group points: Mile 11 at Rancho Nicasio. Mile 21 outside the Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station. Mile 30.7 at the turn to Marshall Petaluma Road. Mile 45.3 at the Marin Cheese Factory. Mile 55.7 at the turn onto Sunset Pkwy. Mile 59.9 at entrance to bike path. Pace: As with all my routes, this shouldn't be your first rodeo for this type of ride given the challenging and semi-remote nature of the climbs. It's not a hammerfest, but speeds will be 17-20 mph on the flats. Everyone takes their own pace on the climbs. I will wait at the tops of hills or key turn points, but folks should bring a hard copy of the route map just in case. Cell reception can be very limited, particularly on Marshall Petaluma Road. No sweeper. Bring: Helmet, spare tube, pump/CO2 cartridges, food/water. Please be self-supporting with food. There are no places for food or water for the long stretch on Marshall Petaluma Road, so plan accordingly!
