Are you ramping up for the cycling season and those longer century rides? Or have you always wanted to explore the Santa Cruz Mountains? Well, this is the perfect ride for both. There is nothing quite like riding through the redwoods in Big Basin on a sunny spring day. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29577595 Meet: 10:00 a.m. Depart: 10:15 a.m. Please check in with me when you arrive. I'll email attendees my cell number and description the night before the ride. Pace: As with all my routes, this definitely shouldn't be your first rodeo for this type of ride given the challenging and semi-remote nature of the climbs. It's not a hammerfest, but speeds will be 16-20 mph on the flats. Everyone takes their own pace on the climbs, and we'll try to regroup at the summits of the major ones. Please either download the route onto your device (Garmin, Wahoo, etc.) or bring a hard copy of the route map just in case. Cell reception can be very spotty in the Santa Cruz Mountains. No sweeper. Bring: Helmet, spare tube, pump/CO2 cartridges, food/water. Please make sure you bring sufficient food / water as there are only a handful of places to refuel on the ride (mainly Boulder Creek at mile 25 and 50).
