You are welcome here. A spiritual community in which all are welcome. Unprogrammed means we do not have a pastor or service. Seeking to speak to that of God in everyone. We begin at 10 a.m. on Sundays with one hour of Silent Worship followed by refreshments, and then one hour of discussion about a book that has been chosen for study, a speaker who represents a local social service organization, or someone who updates the group about various current political and social issues. We meet at Birmingham Friends Meeting house at 4413 5th Avenue, South, Birmingham, AL 35222. Parking and entrance in the rear of Meeting house. Updates will be posted weekly as to the current speaker/discussion.
Friends of this perspective, while recognizing that Quakerism has historically been a branch of the Christian Church, do not believe that Quakerism is or should be limited to a Christian – or Western – understanding. We were founded on the teaching of the Light that Lights everyone coming into the World (John 1). The Friends practice of worship in expectant silence is often seen as particularly conducive to interfaith dialogue, as people of all faiths can benefit from contemplation and grounded sharing.
