Dear Ladies, last week I purchased a couple of tickets through Groupon for a day out to Warwick Castle and was overcharged. So, I would suggest if anyone is interested in joining Geraldine and myself on a day out to Warwick Castle please purchase your tickets directly from the Warwick Castle website – just for Admission only to the castle. The day saver tickets on the Warwick Castle website are coming up at £19 the normal price is £28 which is still a saving of 46%. Here is the link: - https://www.warwick-castle.com/booking/day-tickets.aspx Here's a brief itinerary for the day: - *We shall meet at Moor Street Train Station to catch the train to Warwick. The journey is approximately 30 mins. If anyone wants to drive, there's 3 carparks but they are expensive. Prices start from £6 to £10 depending on which carpark you use. *We'll make our way to Warwick Castle which is about a 20-minute walk from the train station. *After we've had a chance to wonder around the castle and the grounds, we could maybe treat ourselves to a meal in one of the restaurants there. *We'll leave Warwick Castle about 4 ish and make our way over to the Wild Boar pub. The Train station is a 5-minute walk from the pub, so we won’t have far to go to catch our train back to Birmingham. There are some excellent reviews on Trip Advisor about this pub and it’s also had 4 and a half star ratings, so I think this pub is worth checking out. N.B Please note this is just a brief outline for this day trip. Nearer the time I’ll message everyone with more details e.g. the time of the train we’ll be catching etc :-) Please let me know when you've purchased your ticket, so I can keep a check on how many of us will be going.
Hello Ladies, here’s another fantastic event – The Stratford Upon Avon River Festival. I’ve done this Festival a few years ago and it was brilliant!! There were live bands playing on the bandstand, river cruises, fun fairs for the kids, lots of food stalls it was buzzing!! I’ll check the weather forecast a couple of days before the event, if there’s no forecast of rain and showers I think we should do a picnic. Just remember to bring a picnic blanket or something to sit on. No need to bring your own sandwiches from home, there are lots of spa shops where we can buy our food for the picnic. Just click on the link if you’d like to know more about the Festival. http://www.stratforward.co.uk/events/stratford-river-festival/ The itinerary for the day is: 1) For anyone who wants to travel by train with us - we’ll meet outside the ticket office at Birmingham Moor Street Train Station at 11:00 hrs. 2) Once we’ve purchased our tickets, we’ll make our way over to the platform to catch the 1131 hrs train to Stratford Upon Avon. The journey takes just under an hour. 3) We arrive at Stratford Upon Avon train station about 1223 hrs. 4) Coming back home – we’ll be aiming to catch the 1826 hrs train back to Birmingham Moor Street There’s lots of car parks in Stratford in case anyone is thinking of driving in on the day. I would say the bus or train would be the best option to travel in to Stratford. There was a lot of traffic congestion from what I can remember. Before the event I’ll try and think of a meeting point for the group, I’m guessing some people might be coming in from different areas. If anyone has any suggestions on a good meeting point please let me know? If anyone is interested in join the group event and has any queries please message me. Before the day of the event I’ll let everyone have my mobile contact number. Looking forward to meeting some of our new members and catching up with the more established ones. X
The Loch Fyne fish restaurant in Knowle formerly an old hotel, the restaurant is in keeping with our famous Loch Fyne style. Oak panelling and exposed beam work add to the inviting atmosphere and provide a perfect backdrop for a relaxed conversation over some delicious seafood and a bottle of good wine. Come and enjoy our extensive menu at our Loch Fyne Knowle restaurant today – filled to the brim with fresh and seasonal dishes which are ideal for all tastes and occasions. I love this restaurant - I went to the one in Shrewsbury in December last year and was ‘blown away’ by how fresh and tasty the seafood was. A reservation has been made for only 8 people, so please do not Rsvp ‘yes’ unless you are certain you can make it. We’ll be going for the set lunch menu – 2 courses £10.95 and 3 courses 12.95.
