Open Study

We'll be in the back room of the Woodman for a collaborative programming study session this Tuesday. Bring your laptops, current projects or any questions you might want to run through with your peers. All skill levels welcome, from true beginners to experts.

To get the most of out this meetup, you may want to have something in hand to work on or study. If you're looking to get into programming as a beginner, bringing some prepared questions might help you dive in faster.

Thank for showing up, guys. Good mix of getting a bit of work done, arguing about our fav languages and tools and cat videos.

OpenKinect looks like a good place to start
There's wrappers for various languages but it depends what you want to use it for.

Thanks! I've got it working now and will bring it tomorrow. Annoyingly the library for tracking skeletons is closed source and is being pulled from the internet in two days

Unfortunately I'm again unable to make it tonight. Its the end of the season for me (my football is the only bit of exercise I get nowadays :-) ) so there's a backlog of games to play in the midweek. All over very soon so I'm looking to getting involved next week.

@steve - if you're interested, there is a very good vagrant-based project on github which is perfect for things like that:

It isn't overly complicated, you simply uncomment the bits you want installed (npm, nginx, mongo, sqlite, et al), and run `vagrant up`.

It isn't limited to node stuff, however - want a LAMP server, done - want to mine some rubys - done.

I've used it for a number of projects (such as this one where I'm learning node: and it has been a god send....

    ...worth taking a look :)

    Hi All,

Was very much looking forward to coming over tonight, but I have a Maths assignement due in this week and haven't done enough over the weekend to leave tonight free!

I've been wrestling with a npm / node / jenkins / git installation on a VM that I hope to have complete by next week if anyone is interested - figured getting some basic dev-ops in was a good starting point regardless of any benefit it gives re wifi.
