  • We've been meeting as a group now for over a year, and with Christmas now fast-approaching we thought it would be nice to have us a bit of a Social!

We're meeting at the lovely Cherry-Reds in the centre of Birmingham, a stone's throw from New Street Station. It is fully licensed (Draught Beer, wine, spirits etc), and they do some lovely food.

It starts at 6.30pm with a (tiny) bit of light-hearted play-reading, and then it's down to serious festive socialising for the rest of the evening.

Food can be ordered when you get there on the night (shared platters are a great idea!), details can be found on the website http://www.cherryreds.com/.

So, if you're a regular at our Tuesday evening play-reading sessions it will be lovely to catch up with you, or if you haven't yet been to one of our sessions, this is a great chance to have a bit of fun and meet a lively and welcoming bunch of people.

Look forward to seeing you there!

About the regular Tuesday Play Reading Sessions

As a group we take play texts and read them through. We discuss what the plays are saying to us, and we find different ways of putting the text on its feet.

The session is designed for anybody who enjoys their Theatre and is a healthy mixture of actors and non-actors. We work together, sharing our knowledge and enthusiasm, and after the play reading session people are free to continue the evening by having a drink and carry on their discussions.

This is a drop-in group for like-minded people to attend as and when they wish.

Our members are a broad cross-section of people - interested theatre goers, students of English Literature, theatre practitioners, young, old, not-so-old, general public, from all sorts of religious persuasions and walks of life. The main requirement is an enthusiasm to enjoy sharing and learning together.

    What we do . . .

    read plays out loud

    workshop scenes

    discuss our findings

discover lessons and insights into life

explore ways of connecting with plays

    see plays being performed

A contribution is requested to help cover the costs of each session:

    BMI members £1.00

    Non BMI members £5.00

The plays we study are a mixture of classic and modern, scripts will be provided.

If you’re interested in taking part please drop Frank Bramwell an email:-
