Christmas Chompfest and Drinkfest

  • The Port Jackson Wetherspoons pub

  • Wearing motorbike T-Shirts and Jackets
  • CHiPs has suggested we go to the most popular pub in Bishops Stortford, The Port Jackson Weatherspoons pub. I have been brave enough to force myself through the front doors and am genuinely shocked how nice it is with a total absence of tramps and bikers(until we arrive). It gets fab Tripadvisor reviews as well.

Speaking to the manager Thomas, he has given us the last remaining large tables in the house and has some UNBELIEVABLE offers for us.

Picture above is a selection of Christmas mains, turkey pie and burgers(veggie option with cranberry) for £7 which includes any drink(pint, wine, sprits, soft drinks). Add a starter or Christmas pudding for another £3 each. So £10 all in for two courses and a bevvy. Also, full pub menu is available to you for steaks, lamb shanks and half chicken all including a drink for £10. Hence I did put Free Food in the title when the event was first listed because it practically is.

These are a few pics of the actual tables booked - the big ones with the light coloured tops.

The tables hold 16-20ish initially but if more people RSVP there is capacity to make a few further bookings.

If people do not want to eat - no problem. Will be nice to see anyone in the group come along to enjoy the festive fun from the comfort of the bar or adjoining tables. No need to RSVP if you are just popping in for a drink before or after the meal.

This club is about 50% riding the wonderful roads around Herts/Essex and 50% socialising. So I am personally looking forward to seeing everyone for general chinwagging and getting your views on rides and destinations, likes and dislikes etc to shape our approach to 2017. Look forward to seeing you all.

Won't be there for the full night as I'm out with my good lady, will pop in for 1 or 2 drinks to say hello and wish everyone a Merry Bikemas (groan....!) So hopefully see you all/most/some of you then.

Well, this Xmas do is proving to be quite popular! Will be great to see all of you and meet the ones I haven't had the chance to meet. Also, welcome new bikers! Remember Captn said we'll be talking about new rides/adventures for the new year so bring some ideas. Looking forward to this already!

Not sure if anyone else is planning on bringing their partners, but I will be so that I can convince her I'm not having an affair....well at least on rideout dates! Besides I need her to carry me home 😁

Just come along, we'll see what we can do with table. Worst case we may have to sit separate tables then meet for drinks in the main bar 👍

thanks Iggy, did book another table today so we have enough seats for 20ish - we can also pull up more chairs or occupy nearby tables if required. People can just turn up for a pre or post drink if they wish - it is very relaxed.

Ok it's not The Bike Shed but it's close and convenient. Anything to support my local bikers club! Hope they've got music and we can have a bit of a boogie and dance our little socks off!
