Last year we did our Hudson Mystery Malt comparison and this year we're going to have a brew day to celebrate another year of me gracing the earth.
We're going to brew one of the most highly regarded beers in the world and its not available in Minnesota - Russian River's Pliny the Elder. Pliny is a Double IPA using copious amounts Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe hops (25.5 oz in 10 gallon batch). This recipe is authentic because it comes straight from Vinnie, the head brewer at Russian River.
This will be a great beer to share with the group.
The recipe is at http://brewtoad.com/recipes/kat-the-elder
Time: a batch will take 4 hours to brew, so come and stay as long as you are able!
Cost: Each 1/4 of a 5 g batch costs $10 (about a 12pk) or a 1/8 of a 5g batch is $5 (about 6 beers).
Be ready to have fun, learn, get your hands dirty and enjoy great company!
Come when you can, bring a drink for yourself and a snack to share if you can!
Even if you don't want beer, come, learn, help and hang out!
If you are not able to come to another meeting to get your bottles or cannot pick them up, they will be forfeited after 60 days.
We want this to be an awesome learning group but realize that we will have people with different levels of time, money, and space. We would like this to be about relaxing, creating, and brewing great beer!
