Zürich Meetup with Jon Matonis (Bitcoin Foundation)

Jon Matonis, the executive director of the Bitcoin Foundation, will be joining us. The meetup is informal and unstructured. The venue is Hin & Weg Gare -- it's a 5 min. walk away from Zürich Hauptbahnhof (HB).

NOTE: This meetup is on a Wednesday -- not as usually on a Tuesday.

    I am the guy who built the analogue BTC ATM in Weimar <http://blog.maschinenraum.tk/bitcoin>;

    Quite a few people I have told about it at the meetup expressed the wish to have such a thing also in Zurich.
    It's possible to do, but I would need the help of some locals regarding spots to put it etc, and I would also be open to collaboration with existing projects here.

    I will be at the next meetup to talk more about the project, so till then if you want to help out:
    - Keep your eyes open for interesting locations to put such a machine, possible even existing machines we could re-use.
    - If you are working on something cool (esp. hardware and services), think about if and how it could be integrated with (a variation of) such a machine

    Keep in mind it is less about being practical (we could just by a Lamassu then), but more about building fun things that may have also an educational side and show positive aspects of Bitcoin to the general public).

    I wanted to leave these links regarding California’s bill “AB-129 Lawful money: alternative currency”for Jon Matonis' consideration; while I'm not an advocate of regulation and approval from the State, I think this may be worth monitoring its progress as it moves through the process of becoming law--if only for novelty-anecdotal purposes. In the first link you will see a more detailed list of the aforementioned competitive-community currencies in California, those whose name I oddly couldn't recall at the time. https://tinyurl.com/pmhgfdw

    Anybody interested in combining this event with an informal key signing party? Please see http://www.cryptnet.net/fdp/crypto/keysigning_party/en/keysigning_party.html#traditional
