Charitable Giving in a Digital World

PRO TIP: install a Bitcoin wallet. We will be testing "reverse donations" ;)

Charitable Giving in a Digital World

In 2015, 38.7mn people donated USD6.6bn to charities through PayPal and 23% of these were on mobile devices. This year Paypal has incorporated a donate-button directly in their mobile app. Recently the Harvard Business Review's Franz Paasche opined on the use of fintech to embed "social purpose into everyday activities."

In Switzerland, we see Swisscom with it's digital crowd-fund-raising platform and the Swiss Red Cross taking active strides. Fintech, Mobile Tech and even Blockchain are increasingly making a positive impact, on both personal and corporate levels, to acts of charity.

Our friends at Kickstart Accelerator are providing the stage and we are joined by the blockchain-charitable-giving-company HelperBit to learn about the next generation of digital tools in this space. Each of the three participants will last 10-20minutes to to present their views on the impact and challenges of tech in their organizations’ activities. We will wrap up with a 10minute panel Q&A.

The presentation is open to the public. *Refreshments* will be sponsored by Bitcoin Suisse and Kickstart Accelerator, so if you plan to attend please RSVP by Tuesday, 4 October.

ALL - Thank you for participating in this Meetup. I'd be keen to see pictures you might have taken of the event (slides, speakers, whatever). I'd also be interested in your critique so we can improve the process.

Lastly, I'd like to hear from you about any *themes* for future Bitcoin / Blockchain Meetup.

wish you all a great Thursday ;)

Tomorrow I'll be putting some QRcodes up on the screen during the introduction and panel Q&A ... those of you in the audience (with know-how and speed) will have a chance to "sweep" the private keys.

    How cool is that ?

No QRcode here, but you can practice with this key ... who's paying attention ?

Can any of you, the attending, contact Matthias Pfander of the Tages Anzeiger and/or Yvonne Helbe of the NZZ ... and *invite* them to Meetup ??

Or pass me their deets ;)

    Thanks in advance
