Bitcoin for Developers

This Meetup will be in conjunction with the RefreshSD monthly Meetup event at QUALCOMM. I will be presenting on Bitcoin with a focus on understanding it from a developers point of view.

One of the most potentially disruptive technologies of the past couple decades, Bitcoin presents many opportunities and challenges for many individuals, business owners, and developers. With the biggest challenge being understanding the technology and its potential, this presentation will shed the much-needed light on how this crypto-currency works and demystify many of the cryptic terms and concepts such as the blockchain, bitcoin mining, public and private keys, offline wallets, and anonymous transactions. We'll touch on the current landscape of the Bitcoin economy, its incredible potential, and describe ways to incorporate Bitcoin into developer projects and various businesses.

Thank's everyone for attending the meetup. I had a blast, as I always do, rambling about bitcoin. :)

For those looking for the next level of information on bitcoin, UCSD is having a series of talks in March with various speakers including myself. Info will be posted at the link below once details are finalized

Great talk and great info! I had a blast talking to so many other people excited about Bitcoin and all of the great opportunities around it! I mentioned it to a few folks, but in case anyone else is interested... my group runs a mid-sized mining operation. We pretty regularly sell mining equipment as we rotate-in newer generations of ASICs. So if anyone is interested in mining or buying mining gear, feel free to drop me a message. I'm always happy to chat about mining. Looking forward to more meetups!

Hi! Just joined the group, so please say hi to me because I'll probably be high-school-awkward if I'm left to my own rickety devices. I may be young and new but I'd love to listen to everyone's ideas about the bitcoin economy, and possibly commiserate with anyone else who didn't invest before the recent boom. Damn. Am I right?

Gonna try my best to make it! You guys are probably more knowledgeable when it comes to coding but I figure worse comes to worst I'll learn a few things.
