I am thrilled to announce that this Wednesday, January 28th, Bitcoin New York will be hosting a very special guest - Juan Llanos! It would be challenging to have gone around the Bitcoin scene, especially in New York, and not to have heard of or met Mr. Llanos before. He is currently the EVP of Strategic Partnerships and Chief Transparency Officer at Bitreserve.org (https://bitreserve.org/about) and has been positing interesting articles, interviews, and insights at his blog, Contrarian Compliance (http://contrariancompliance.com/), a must-read site for anyone interested in serious examinations of crypto-currencies and current regulatory frameworks.

Mr. Llanos also has recently given a TED Talk called "Digital currencies like bitcoin are coming. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GL9PTQiqxw)" Check it out!

HIs bio is pretty impressive - here is just part of it:

"Juan is EVP of Strategic Partnerships and Chief Transparency Officer at Bitreserve.org (https://bitreserve.org/about), a cloud-based payment network that allows members to remove bitcoin’s volatility and merchants to receive payments at zero cost.

For well over a decade, Juan has built and managed compliance programs all over the world –while dedicating his work to supporting the underserved and unbanked. During this time, Juan helped develop a large portfolio of innovative monetary services and tools –such as bill payments, money transfer products and Mexico’s first pre-paid debit card. Juan co-developed this suite of new financial services at Unidos Financial Services, Inc. and Remesas Quisqueyana, Inc., holding a number of senior positions, while building a reputation as an internationally recognized compliance thought leader.

He is a member of the Bitcoin Foundation (https://bitcoinfoundation.org/)‘s Regulatory Affairs and Education Committees, co-Chair of DATA (http://info.datauthority.org/)’s AML Working Group, writes about risk and virtual currencies in this blog, and is a mentor and advisor (https://angel.co/juanllanos) at various crypto-currency and technology start-ups."

So come on out and enjoy his talk. After which we will have our traditional Q&A session with the guest and then we can dive into general topics, including what an amazing week it has been for Bitcoin! Braintree announced that they will offer bitcoin payment options for operators in the US and shortly afterwards, payments giant Ingenico announces bitcoin support for their 22 million POS terminals located in retail spots across the EU!

As always, please feel free to submit any questions or discussion topics you might want to bring up during the meeting in your RSVP.

See you on Wednesday!!!
