What we're about

From the novice cook to the culinary pro: If you are 21 and up, love to cook or want to try some recipes, this club makes it fun--as long as you love to eat and are willing to share a homemade food dish. Do you tear out recipes from magazines & always mean to "get around to" trying them out? Do you want to sample dishes you've never tried before while meeting new people in Austin? Are you new to cooking and want to learn new techniques or recipes, or do you feel like everyone on the Food Network could learn some tips from you?

Whether you are a novice cook or a chef--if you want great food, great laughs, signature cocktails, good wine, new friends and gatherings centered around something we all enjoy - then LET'S DO THIS.

We meet monthly and everyone brings a homemade food dish (complicated or super simple, doesn't matter) for the theme of that event to share; everyone also brings something to drink. ****Important: Please post what food you will be bringing with your RSVP (or shortly thereafter) in the RSVP comment section of the event, taking care to bring something no one else is bringing, so that we have a variety of different dishes at each event and everyone shines!

To cover fees (meetup fees, WePay fees, name tags, to-go containers, dish tags, extra wines and liquor brought by organizer, signs and other promotions and incidentals) dues are $24 per year (for you plus the ability to bring a friend, spouse, or partner one time each for no extra charge as your "plus one" whenever desired.) However, everyone gets 90 days free to decide if they'd like to join. (One attendance of our fun and welcoming group gets you hooked!)

Open to any adults; we are a diverse group and anyone is welcome. Hosts are allowed to set the date/time/theme and head count when hosting. Generally, we cook our dishes at our own homes and then take the dishes to the location which is hosting the event. If you volunteer to host, your annual dues are also waived!

This is a fun and welcoming group--if you have yet to join, you are missing out on future fun and good friends. Visit us for an evening and see what we're about! Put on your apron or grill mitts and whip something up and tote a bottle of wine or something you'd enjoy drinking/sharing and let's make it happen!

Do note, all of our meetups fill up fast due to popularity, but by the day of the event we rarely ever have waitlists so get on the waitlist if you want to attend; plans change and folks will back out.

It is up to members to manage their membership subscriptions and cancel prior to membership renewal; all memberships are non-refundable. By joining this group and attending any events, you agree to waive any and all liability. If you are drinking, we encourage you to please bring a DD or take an Uber!

February - Cooking Light!

Ron and Gee's House

Greetings, Wild Cooking Friends! Gee and Ron will be hosting our February event, which is themed "Cooking Light"! Maybe you have a long-time family favorite such as a beefy, cheesy lasagna or decadent carrot cake that you have lightened up, or have been wanting to try some vegan or plant-based recipes. Maybe fruits and veggies are your jam and you've been wanting to show off a go-to dish! Smoothies, grain bowls, avocado toasts - whatever latest trend inspires you to think of light, healthy food - we want a taste! Of course, there is also the fantastic original resource - https://www.cookinglight.com/food Please list your dish in the comments section after reading what others are bringing so that we have all original dishes and no "cook-offs". Actual location address will be sent a few days prior to the event and only if you listed your dish! Seating space may be limited, so some guests will be standing room only, but it's a party so mingling is encouraged anyway! Don't forget - if the event fills up, join the wait list! If we have cancellations, open spots are on a first come, first served basis. Bring your dish (festive/beautiful plating is encouraged), wine/beer/drink of choice and to-go container if there are any leftovers to divide at the end of the event. Host will provide plates, utensils, napkins, beverage cups and ice. If you are drinking, we always suggest taking an Uber or having a designated driver. March - Italian Feast!

Bree and Keith's House

Ciao, amici golosi! March's menu will feature the sexy, delectable food and culture of Italy at Bree and Keith's house! Italian food comes in many forms, whether rustic or refined, and is known for it's bold flavors, often making us think of family-style and communal dining - just like our group - or feasting in the olive groves and vineyards in the Tuscan sun! I know some of you love getting your dough hook out for some homemade pasta or handmade pizza dough! From-scratch burrata or gelato may be easier than you think! Don't forget - regional flavors vary - is your dish a favorite in Rome, Naples, Florence? Do you have a cherished recipe from your Nonna? Maybe a copycat recipe from your favorite Italian restaurant? Book suggestions include The Silver Spoon (Il cucchiaio d'argento), which was first published in 1950 and is the Italian equivalent of our Joy of Cooking - a classic staple and continuously best selling collection of over 2000 recipes! Maybe you have a favorite Italian celebrity chef like Giada d'Laurentis, Extra Virgin Cooking Channel stars Debi Mazar and her husband Gabriele Corcos, Scott Conant (Scarpetta) or Gino d'Acampo - all of whom have cookbooks and recipes online for inspiration. Please list your dish in the comments section after reading what others are bringing so that we have all original dishes and no "cook-offs". Actual location address will be sent a few days prior to the event and only if you listed your dish!
