The goal of the Black Blockchain Speaker Series is to highlight underrepresented entrepreneurs, engineers, and thought leaders in the blockchain space. By creating a welcoming environment that provides access points for people of all backgrounds, we hope to increase interest and exposure to this emerging field.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are honored to welcome Janett Liriano, CEO of Loomia, as the first guest in our Blockchain Speaker Series.

Loomia creates "smart" circuitry designed to interact with soft goods. Their product, the LOOMIA TILE, is a hardware device that unobtrusively transforms clothes into data-collecting and identity tools. This information can then be transferred to a desktop application and sold to interested parties. The app is decentralized and gives the wearer freedom to choose who has access to their data and how it is used. Their TILE cryptocurrency acts a rewards system for the LOOMIA TILE wearer.

In addition to learning more about LOOMIA and her experience leading the company, we will have the opportunity to hear Janett speak on a wide range of topics, such as:

* The future potential of blockchain technology and its current limitations.
* The implications of blockchain technology on personal data ownership and security.
* How hardware/wearables will interact with the blockchain.
