My name is Elicia Magana. I am 32 years old. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I attended UC San Diego and obtained by Bachelor's degree in Economics. In my senior year of college, I discovered my passion for event planning and have pursued this path for the last 11 years. In 2016, I quit my job and started my own event planning business, KIMA (www.kimaevents.com).
One of the things I have always been terrible at is making time for friendship and creating community in my life. I have always been single focused on school, work or building a business. People ask what do you do for fun? What do you do in your free time? And I just don't have an answer!
I am an off-spring of a Mexican father, who passed in 2011, and a Black mother, who raised me on her own. I created Black Women Entrepreneurs Social Club to meet other like minded women and to create a space where we are always making time to connect and uplift to others, no matter how busy we get in our business. Which I believe in turn will make us stronger and happier in our businesses. "The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water and food." - Dean Ornish
