Paris with the Urban Explorers of Philadelphia!

Dine on croissants at a small cafe, walk along the Seine river, and visit the Eiffel Tower with the Urban Explorers of Philadelphia.  We're heading to Paris!  We're heading to Paris for 5 days and 4 nights!

About Paris

"Paris is the capital and largest city of France. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region.  Paris is today one of the world's leading business and cultural centres and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world's major global cities.

The city's most prized museum, the Louvre, welcomes over 8 million visitors a year, being by far the world's most-visited art museum. The city's cathedrals are another main attraction: Notre Dame de Paris and the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur receive 12 million and eight million visitors, respectively.

The Eiffel Tower, by far Paris' most famous monument, averages over six million visitors per year and more than 200 million since its construction.  The Louvre is one of the world's largest and most famous museums, housing many works of art, including the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) and the Venus de Milo statue. Works by Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin are found in Musée Picasso and Musée Rodin."

Where Will We Stay?

We want to be in the heart of the action, so we will be staying in downtown Paris at the Holiday Inn Paris Gare Montparnasse

Hotel Features

At the eight-story Holiday Inn, 100 non-smoking rooms decorated in bold reds and blacks have flat-panel TVs, coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi.

Fill up on croissants and scrambled eggs at the generous breakfast buffet, and mingle over aperitifs in the lobby bar. Plan your itinerary in the 24-hour business center, or enjoy some quiet time in the garden. Private parking is available.

Hotel Location

The Holiday Inn is located in the 14th Arrondissement, five minutes from the Gaite Metro station and less than a mile from the Gare Montparnasse RER train station. Historic central Paris and iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and Luxembourg Gardens are 15 minutes away by Metro.

The hotel is surrounded by cafes and bistros, and is a two-minute walk from popular theaters on the colorful Rue de la Gaite. Charles De Gaulle International Airport is about 25 miles away.

Note that hotel is subject to change, but the star rating will not go down. If we can get the Ritz for the same price... we will!

IMPORTANT: On August 1st we will meet at 30th Street Station and go to JFK airport via bus.  Precise itinerary will be specified after tickets are purchased (mid-February).

...But I Don't Speak French!

Don't worry, most Parisians speak English!  You will have no problem communicating with shop owners,  waiters, and even most pedestrians.

Further, Jamaica, the Director of Mahogany Philly, will be traveling with us and speaks French.

Can I bring a guest?

Guests are welcome.

Are men welcomed?

All are welcome. We will make sure to room you and your significant other together.

Do we have to stick to the payment plan?

In order to be a part of this trip it is mandatory to make the down payment by January 31st. This money will go towards reserving your airline seat and is non-refundable.

Subsequent payments can be made at your discretion as long as we have received $1050 by April 15th and the remaining $900 by July 15th.

Is there any chance of the price changing?

Absolutely not! We have been working with a number of airlines and hotels to provide you with the best fare possible. We can say with confidence, that $1950 is the cost of your trip.

Which airline are we traveling with?

Our airline of choice is Iceland Air. However, this can change as our seats are not reserved until all of our first down payments have been collected and paid to the airline. If an airline comes along with a better offer for us, then by all means we will accept it. Please keep in mind your spot is not guaranteed until your final payment has been made.

It is important to us that you not have any doubts in traveling with us. Therefore, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact [masked] or[masked]-1236.

Should we assume taking a taxi from the airport to hotel, or the metro?
Also, just to clarify- included airfare is roundtrip? (summary only states 'airfare to Paris').
Thanks for your work in planning this trip!

Are you'll booking this trip through a travel agency?

    January 8, 2013

    • Jamaica

Great question. No, we are booking directly with the airline via the group sales department.

      1 · January 8, 2013

    • Jamaica

Yes, we communicated will all of the local agencies as well as a few national ones. The best rate has been the group rate offered through the airlines.
