Rating: ( Advanced, Large Lake, No Flow, 8-9 miles/day, Moderate Pace, Out and Back, Semi-Primitive Kayak Camping

This is for advanced kayakers and kayak campers. Must have a long boat. Must be able to paddle 8 miles with a loaded boat in open water - be able to navigate long stretches of open water, handle rough water conditions (wind/waves), have skirt, paddle float, bilge pump, and be able to do assisted and self-rescues. Must have done either kayak camping or backpack camping before. Participants are accepted at the sole discretion of the Host. Last year we had calm weather, but if the winds are up, the waves soon follow.

Paddle out into the lake and camp at one of the semi-primitive camp sites (pit toilet, no potable water). Staying Friday night on State Line Island on site 20B, paddling to Graveyard Island for lunch on Sat, then on to First Island for camping. Near reverse of that on Sunday back to the ramp.

Meetup is at the ramp facing State Line Island, not the Marina Ramp (keep straight on the road, don't turn towards the marina). May have to park at the marina if no free spots at the ramp.

I'll be there early Friday, around 10AM CDT to get in some extra paddling if anyone wants to get in on that.

Cost will be minimal. I think they charge $3 per camp site reservation now. Plus any firewood/firelog cost.

Map on Friday evening to camp site.
