Hey guys and gals! Anybody know a close put in spot on the Elkhorn near Midway?

Never been on the S Fork of Elkhorn, but the Canoeing and Kayaking Kentucky book lists Fisher's Mill Rd as a put-in, Woodlake Rd as a rough put-in/take-out, and the only other take out is right before the dam at the Mollusk Center there at the Forks of Elkhorn. Says you need more than 125 cfs.

N Fork has 4 or 5 put-ins below Georgetown, some dams to portage. Never been there either.

Of course, the well known class II whitewater section begins at the Forks (must have a pass to park and put-in) and goes down to Knights Bridge, then the 'commercial section' or Lower Elkhorn begins there and you can go all the way to the Ky River, with 3 or 4 more takeouts along there. I'd recommend at least 300cfs.

Thanks, Don. That's very helpful info.
