- Live Demo: Simulating a BLE Device with a Mac
Connected devices are eating the world, one byte at a time. Whether it's a wearable on your wrist or finger, measuring your vitals, or an appliance helping you plan your dinner, there's a good chance your phone is coordinating the conversation. Bluetooth Low Energy has emerged as the leading standard for connecting your favorite devices. As consumers demand more and more from their phones and devices, product teams are busy creating ever more sophisticated features. In such a fast paced environment, what hope do we have as builders and makers? How can designers and engineers iterate quickly without inundating QA teams with a mountain of untested features, especially when evaluation requires taking a 20min walk? Aubrey Goodman and Dan Post solve these and other hard problems every day, building Motiv Ring. While it may seem like magic, quite a lot of science, creativity, and diligence goes into the development of a hardware-connected product. These guys have put in the hard work so you don't have to. For one night only, they're sharing their experience with an intimate audience of you and a hundred of your fellow nerds. You'll hear stories of joy and sorrow at the hands of one little mysterious device. You'll learn design patterns leading to effective automated testing. You'll see a live demo of an iOS app connecting to a Mac app simulating a BLE device. Dev Bootcamp (DBC) has graciously agreed to host this event at their SF campus in SoMa. We're really excited to be working with them as an active member of our thriving community, always contributing to the rising tide of education that lifts us all. Doors open at 6pm. Event starts promptly at 6:30pm. Special thanks to our venue sponsor, Dev Bootcamp!
