COME ONE, COME ALL! Bmore VR & DCVR are combining all VR & AR forces to have a mega Meetup in Annapolis! This is the first Meetup that is not only a combined effort between two awesome groups, but it's the first one that we are hosting on a weekend - so let's make it a good one :) The Bmore VR "Science Fair" layout will continue, meaning there will be demos from great local (Baltimore, DC, & Annapolis) companies showcasing their latest and greatest VR/AR experiences. • Bmore VR Spring Meetup
Bmore VR is returning with our open "Science Fair" layout, meaning we will have demos from great local companies showcasing their latest and greatest VR/AR experiences! If you'd like to show off a VR/AR project, please contact [masked] Space Telescope Science Institute: Get up close and personal with NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. Come witness the immense scale of Webb, learn about its engineering feats, or even take a journey into the heart of a protoplanetary disk! Molecular Jig Games: NanoCrasher VR is a Nano bot, 1000 times smaller than a Microbot, which means you are the size of a protein! Your mission is to travel over the surface of a single cell searching for an elusive pathogen you must capture before it finds its way into the cell. You fly through a forest of moving objects with no brakes searching for paths through the objects that lead in the direction of the pathogen. A hectic, endless runner, or endless bumper car kind of game, NanoCrasher will change how you think of your cells, that's for sure. Crime Scene VR: Immerses you in the world of forensic investigation. In your role as a crime scene investigator, it is your duty to document and gather evidence to help solve the crime. Evidence is hidden around the apartment and it's your job to find as much as you can with an emphasis on exploration and attention to detail. After leaving the crime scene you will be scored and be able to review the evidence that was documented during your investigation. Marcellus Wilson: Experience Ancient Egypt in the story of Ahmose in VR. In a time when the empire was divided and in the hands of foreign invaders, things get worse as they find themselves surrounded on all sides and facing war. Ahmose must journey to the land of the gods and through the underworld to gain the magical powers he needs to overcome his many enemies. Journey with Ahmose in this tower defense/ shooter game to discover the truth of the power of "the hidden one", the god Amun. Digital History Studios: Rob Cloutier will have demos of a variety projects in VR - walk around parts of the Berlin Wall, tour Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, walk through a World War I trench, swim with sharks and a variety of other experiences. For more information, see www.3dhistory.com. Dhremo Decals: Our newest efforts brings these decals into the augmented reality (AR) space. Instead of just experiencing a static "Rainbow Cure Blaster" paper sticker, patients will be able to scan the decal through the Dhremo App and (for example) an elephant would hop off the label and spray rainbow cure blaster around their hospital room. The goal is to create a full series of pediatric and apothecary AR decals, and as well as build the corresponding app. At this point we have animated an initial design, and will have a simulated demo to share. Diving the U-352: Experience not just the thrill of scuba diving, but exploring one of the best preserved submarines of World War II history. Mo Hafez, CTO and Co-Founder of Discovery Deep, is proud to bring the experience of diving the U-352 to the VR world, keeping with Discovery Deep's mission of bringing the ocean out of the ocean, and digitally preserving maritime history. Jeffrey L. Gangwisch: Local Baltimorian will be showcasing two framed 8"x8" paintings that are both AR collages. Visitors are invited to explore the framed images using the provided tablets. callenshaw indiegames: Join the VR Party Club! Strap in, roll dice, and play crazy minigames. This VR party game in the spirit of Mario Party is coming soon for Vive and Rift! MixedRiver: Come experience their latest holographic training system for football and a couple mystery HoloLens experiences. Schedule: 6:00: Doors open / networking 6:30: Intro and quick updates from all presenters 7:00: Demos 8:30: Event closes See you all there!

  • Bmore VR - The Olympics Edition
We’re mixing it up in Baltimore and this is how it’s going to go down: There will be teams of 2-5 members each representing a different country (imaginary countries are encouraged). Bonus points will be awarded for creative uniforms, flags and National Anthems. Each country will play a VR game for 15ish minutes (5 minutes per team member) and record their highest score, then move on to the next game and so on and so forth. The team with the highest score at the end wins. Teams should be somewhat determined prior to the ceremonial torch lighting on the night of competition. If you come alone - have no fear! You can always join another team. When countries & teams are determined, please message us so we have an understanding of who is showing up. Also, if you are making a VR game OR have an all time favorite that should be in the Olympics - message us and let us know! We’re still working out the kinks, but we know that there will definitely be three things: Competition, Virtual Reality and Prizes! Schedule: 6:00 - 6:30 Mingle as competitors arrive 6:30 - 7:00 Announcing of the countries & torch lighting 7:00 - 8:30 LET THE GAMES BEGIN! 8:30 - 9:00 Scoring & awards Games: Space Pirate Trainer - Get immersed in a nostalgic arcade game! Pick up your blasters, put on your sneakers, and shoot your way into the Space Pirate Trainer hall of fame. (Thanks to MageWorks for the game suggestion!) VR Sports - Wii Sports, but on a Vive! Move around the basketball court to shoot as many baskets as possible before your time is up. Audio Shield - A VR rhythm game for the Vive. Pick your favorite song and block the associated color-coded notes with a shield of matching color to get points! VRCade - As a homage to the classic 80's arcade (think Stranger Things season 2), Mosaic Learning has created a physics-based game that will really test your skeeball skills. Last Refuge - Exis Interactive's demo, "The Last Refuge", you inside the last local stronghold against the zombie hordes. Fight to save yourself, and the other inhabitants of Baltimore's last refuge! AR Endless Runner - Balti Virtual will be demoing their endless runner game that they debuted for this year's Christmas card. Jump over snow balls and slide under reindeer to collect as many presents as you can! **Your regularly scheduled BmoreVR “expo” style Meetup will return in the spring**

  • Bmore VR Fall Meetup
Trick or Treat? Tough choice, but at our next Meetup you won't have to choose! We are continuing with our open "Science Fair" layout, meaning we will have demos from great local companies - but with a spooky twist! Come try out the latest VR/AR experiences and hardware! Eat & drink all the ghoulish goodies, walk through a VR haunted house or watch a Halloween-themed live painting on Tilt Brush from local artists - just don't get too scared! If you'd like to show off a VR/AR project, please contact [masked] Demos (more to be announced): EarthBorn Interactive: MageWorks is a journey about "crafting reality using virtual reality". Players wield a spell-book in one hand and a staff in the other while traveling to different lands. Along their adventure, they will fight against different foes, discover new spells, and collect resources - all to create their personal staff. Saw wood, learn to lathe shapes, mill flowers into ink, grind crystals, and transform drawings into manufactured designs, all of which are then 3D printed in reality. Digital History Studios: They've been producing 3D animation segments for over 20 years, specializing in recreating historic places, events and subjects for a variety of projects and platforms and will be showing examples. They also produce VR content for both 360 3D rendered animation and for real time/interactive VR projects. Nick Clinkscales: This MICA graduate will be showing Talewinds, a prototype VR airship game, and KRAZAM!, a VR physics based puzzle game that's currently in development. LookOnMedia: Plans on demoing a top secret VR project (oh boy!) and also the Virtual Reality Museum that was shown at Light City Baltimore 2017 for anyone who missed it. Dusty Peterson: One Jump Short is a Sci-fi Space thriller that pits your will to survive against your ability to multitask. The sole controller of a massive, FTL capable interstellar shipping barge, it's your job to command maintenance drones, plot hyperspace jumps, and perform delicate docking operations. When your ship is suddenly overcome with an infestation of horrific alien creatures, you'll need to juggle everything you know to make your way home before you're overrun! Haymaker Media: Recently produced a mind-bending new music video for the band Mountainwolf. As filmmakers, we push the boundaries of what we've seen so far in 360 storytelling by first messing with the balance in editing VR space. There is the VR editing pace we are all getting used to, let it linger, let it linger. But that is not dynamic, it just gives you time to be a tourist. So we worked on a way to give you an immersive experience that both delivers on a story level and excites on a visual and pacing level. We also played with moving footage so as to push viewers toward points of emphasis, the way we always have in 2D filmmaking. Balti Virtual: Showcasing new Halloween & Sea Creature designs for their augmented reality temporary tattoos called "HoloTats." They will also demo how their AR creations have changed the commercial real estate world and how they've been implemented in large brick & mortar stores. Space Telescope Science Center: Showcasing their VR “classroom” that was designed to help bring public attention to the soon-to-be-launched James Webb Space Telescope. Marcellus Wilson: Demoing a recently created video game in called Weapons of Ra. It was originally developed for iOS, but has now been converted to a VR experience! Nano Crasher: The NanoCrasher is a nanobot designed to navigate the surface of Human cells. You serve the inner space safety force and have trained for 5 years to be the first NanoCrasher pilot. Your glory moment is ruined by unknown Invaders are trying to parasitize the humans you defend. Race to the sites of invasion, using this spectacular new nanotechnology... bounce off of proteins and lipids that move through your path. Try to find the fastest path using clues to evade as many obstacles as possible. Your reflexes and your Nanobot must save interrupt the parasites before it's too late! Startup Maryland: They would like to invite you to pitch your business on the Startup Maryland bus. They are coming to promote entrepreneurship, Virtual Reality, and ecosystem building as part of the 2017 STRT1UP Roadshow. The Annual Roadshow focuses on finding the next great innovation and venture in Maryland. Entrepreneurs will have 2-4 minutes to pitch their business or opportunity in their words on camera. The pitch videos will be posted online and the founders will have a free opportunity to publicize themselves. The pitch videos can be used for whatever purpose the entrepreneur feels they can get the most value. Often they are pitching in search of investment but if they'd like to spread information regarding a crowdfunding campaign, encourage people to visit their site, or just to grow their client base they are more than encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity for those purposes. Finally, in crafting the perfect pitch the Startup Maryland team encourages entrepreneurs to hit four main points: What problem are they solving/innovation are they creating? What's the market? Why are they the right team to accomplish this goal? and what milestones will they accomplish over the next year? Finalists in the Pitch Across Maryland Competition will get to pitch for investors at the STRT1UP Showcase event in February! Schedule: 6:00: Doors open / networking 6:30: Intro and quick updates from all presenters 7:00: Demos 9:00: Event closes See you all there! (Maybe in a Halloween costume?)

  • Meetup #4 - Spring Expo!
Back to our usual "Science Fair" format with lots of demo content - bring your friends! Demos: Earthborn Interactive will be presenting a demo level from an ongoing multi-platform development, Flutter Bombs, in VR. Experience nature's wrath as you follow the travels of a butterfly clearing a path through a deadly swamp. Digital Cave Media - Inspired by Peter Gibbs’ daring prison escape - feel the adrenaline rush from behind the cuffs and from the POV of the escapee himself with JAILBREAK, launching in advance of the eighth season premiere of I (ALMOST) GOT AWAY WITH IT. Matt Riggieri of Digital Cave Media served as Director of VR Photography on the project, since the launch last week it has been viewed over 131,000 times. Visisonics - The most accurate 3D positional audio solution available, RealSpace 3D Audio represents the science behind the way people listen. RealSpace 3D Audio completes virtual reality, keeps your head in the game and provides an immersive surround experience in movies and music. Studio217 will be demoing "Mister Mart", a game that puts you in the role of a customer service rep at a bad grocery store where everyone is returning their items! Use your hands to return items, punch customers and get the highest score while keeping your stress down. WrenAR will have two Vive experiences to try: • Rainbow Jellies: Allows you to use the LEAP motion to interact naturally with virtual jellyfish in augmented space using your hands. • VR Paint: This demo allows you to paint an environment any way you want using the Vive controllers. Variable brush type, size and color allow for a lot of variety in how you paint, use your controllers like a brush or like a paintball gun, both are fun ways to paint. Sensics will demo Sky Harbor on the OSVR HDK 1.3, an experience built with the recently open-sourced CryEngine. Seven Hills VR will be demoing VROlleyball for HTC Vive, and a bunch of Steam games including Audioshield, The Lab, and Fantastic Contraption. Balti Virtual will be showing off their new Augmented Reality Temporary Tattoos for kids: "HoloTats", as well as HTC Vive games. and others! Agenda: 6:30: Doors open / networking 7:00: Intro and quick updates from all presenters 7:15: Demos! 9:00: Head to Max's on Broadway Looking forward to seeing everyone!
