Bar Nancy, 61 High Street in Northcote
We will be playing in the Salon downstairs (walk through the front bar, should be easy to find). It’s a large space, but is kept warm in winter by two fireplaces.
We have large tables that can comfortably accommodate 8 players (and accommodate more uncomfortably). We also have smaller tables for more intimate games.
The 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. Starting at a lazy 3pm, we will be playing until late.... (11 pm or later, if people have the stamina).
A $3 donation is requested towards the venue hire cost. If you can't spare it, please come anyway - we would rather have as many players as possible.
How to get there:
Tram: Catch the #86 tram and get off near the corner of High Street and Westgarth Street (Stop #27) [ http://ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/1881 ]
On the South Morang/Epping Line, get off at Merri or Rushall Stations (700m walk from both) [ http://ptv.vic.gov.au/stop/view/20017 ]
On the Hursbridge Line, get off at Westgarth Station (300m walk) [ http://ptv.vic.gov.au/stop/view/19928/ ]
Bus: #250/#251 bus route [ http://ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/3448 ].
Driving: The best car parking is usually available along Westgarth Street, or in Pearl Street, generally there’s no restriction on Sundays. Be careful of the signed parking, some areas are local only.
What games do you play?
Can I bring my own games?
Yeah, of course. Don’t feel bad if it doesn’t get played the first time you bring it...
I’m not very experienced with games... is that a problem?
Let us know... we have a wide variety of games and there’s some very good entry level games that are still fun to play.
Everytime we crack open a game we will briefly run through the rules. If someone has never played the game we’ll go through it in more depth.
And sometimes almost everyone is new to the game... in these cases we all learn together.
I’m awesome at games... I crush everyone... you all will bow down at my awesomeness... is that a problem?
Yes... yes it is. Everyone wants to win (some more than others)... just remember it’s a game.
What’s to drink?
Bar Nancy... is a bar. So there’s the usual alcoholic beverages, beers, wines, ciders... but also a great range of cocktails and during winter mulled wine.
They also have tea, coffee, iced chocolate and soft drinks
What’s to eat?
Bar Nancy have a a kitchen which serves delicious taps style food... we encourage you to patronize them.
There’s also a great crepe place next door (Myrtle’s)... they do coffee too. Across the road is a bakery and a Nando’s and there’s a fish and chip shop up the road (they also do souvlaki)
