Needs a location
Our Chapter will once again be participating in the Comfort July 4th Parade!. Those of you that helped out last year know that Comfort does July 4th right and we had an awesome time! Even took home the Best Area Non-Profit trophy for our float!
So, we need your help to make it all happen again this year. There are several areas you can help out in. The first items coming up will be the production of 1000s of seedballs to be passed out to parade-goers. Scott has the machine back up and running and we have done one practice round and it went very well. So, I will be sending out an announcement for another seedball-making session soon!
Next up, float decorating. This will, hopefully, take place the night before the parade if we can find a secure location in Comfort, close to the parade route, to set-up. Otherwise, it will have to happen bright and early the morning of. I will keep everyone posted.
Now for the parade itself - there are 3 areas where volunteers are needed:
1) riders - wave to the happy people as we drive along and hand walkers/runners bags of seedballs as they run out
2)walkers/let's be honest runners - pass out seedballs to aforementioned happy paradegoers. It is hot and fast, but exhilarating to have that many people clamoring for seedballs and thanking you for not throwing candy!
3) Covert operatives - hide amidst the crowd with a bag of seedballs and frantically pass them out as our float goes by! This helps get seedballs to people that do not have a front row seat to the parade and is great for those attending the parade with guests or family and cannot ride the float.
I am sure there are other things that will pop up along the way, but these are the immediate areas. Please consider joining us in this very fun event!
