Shout-out to SW Idaho folks:
Do you like boats and wildlife? If you do, we have an exciting volunteer opportunity coming up at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge! We will be taking Refuge boats out to the Snake River islands April 4-7 and May 2-4 to do goose nest surveys. These will be long days, but they should be a lot of fun as well.
Survey days will begin at 7:30a.m. at the Deer Flat Visitor Center, with an estimated return time of 4:00. So, bring a bag lunch if you plan to join us! We will not go out if it is raining, but even if the weather is fair you should be prepared for wet, and possibly cold, conditions. Wear layers, long pants, and sturdy, close-toed shoes or boots that are built to support you on uneven ground. Hats, sunscreen, and insect repellent are also recommended. Finally, don’t forget your camera and binoculars!
These field days aren’t appropriate for young children, but teens and even tweens would probably have a good time. If you are interested in participating, you will need to email me at [masked] to find out about available spaces and sign up!
