Monthly Ballroom Lesson and Dance ~ Cha Cha by Mike and Liz Lee
USA Dance - Boise Chapter is having its Monthly Ballroom Lesson and Social Dance! If you have ever wanted to learn to Ballroom Dance, here is a wonderful opportunity! No partner is necessary. We are a friendly, non-judgmental group who simply wants to keep our minds and bodies active with ballroom dancing. This month's lesson will be Cha Cha taught by Mike and Liz Lee. The lesson will begin with beginner steps and progress to beyond beginner by the end of the hour. Wear comfortable, clean, smooth-soled shoes. Practice your dance moves after the lesson with a wonderful mix of music for various ballroom dances including Waltz, Rumba, Foxtrot, Samba, Swing and more. In a 2001 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, it was discovered the ONLY physical activity that offered protection against dementia was frequent dancing! General admission is $10. If you are a club member, the admission is $5. Annual membership is $35, so membership will pay for itself if you attend monthly lessons and dances. We are a non-profit organization. Snacks and water are provided. Please remember, this is a NON-Alcoholic and smoke free venue.

What we're about

WELCOME TO BAS! (Boise Active Singles)

We are a group of single adults who get together for all kinds of activities such as biking, running, hiking, rafting, concerts, social events...anything we decide to do. This is NOT a dating club. We are interested in pursuing an active, fun lifestyle with other dynamic people. We seek avenues to impact our Treasure Valley community in a positive way.

Any member can schedule a bike ride, dinner out, movie, hike, camping trip, roller blading, concert, rafting...whatever you're into. Simply click "Schedule an Event" on the main page and follow the prompts.

Boise Active Singles is a great way to get out, meet new people and have some fun. Come join us soon!

Q – How do I know what events are happening?

A – Locate BAS events on our MeetUp site, (Hey, you're here!) You can find scheduled events on the "Upcoming" and "Calendar" tabs.

Q – What sort of events does BAS do?

A – Because our events are 100% member-driven, our events run the gamut. BAS has no constraints on the type of events, though common sense dictates they be safe and legal. The New Member Social is our only regular monthly event but some popular events include sand volleyball, theatrical performances, going to see local bands, Greenbelt bike rides and even some community volunteer events. We are a social activities club.

Q – Who can suggest an event?

A – ANY member of BAS can suggest an event but should realize that suggesting an event requires that member be willing to host the event they suggested.

Q – What are my responsibilities if I choose to host an event?

A – As the event host your first job is to provide information about the event. The more details you can provide the better. It is preferable that a host greet attendees as they arrive and act as a point of contact for members.

Q –Is BAS a dating group?

A – No. BAS is intended to be for single people to get together with others for activities, fun and to expand their social circle. That said, romantic relationships have evolved from the friendships made through BAS. Regardless, members are expected to treat each other with respect.

Q –What is the age demographic of the group?

A – BAS does not have age biases, though some events would require a minimum age of 21 because of the venues. The bulk of our membership appears to range from later 30’s to 60’s -- though I can’t say definitively because I never ask. BAS welcomes members regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics, family situation, checkbook size, pets or eye color. We do discriminate against discrimination and mean people. ;)

Q – How much does it cost to be a member of BAS?
A – BAS does not have membership dues at this time. About once a year a voluntary donation is requested to help offset the cost of the MeetUp site fee and the $1 donations collected at the New Member Socials pay for thing like name tags, pens and printing. With additional funds the BAS has hosted an annual Christmas party and a summer BBQ. Meet-up has recently made a button available on our home page for those who wish to make a donation BAS electronically.
