Are there any group rides. I have been mostly mountain biking but I recently bought a road bike and am looking for people to ride with.
Spring had sprung! ☀️🌷🌱 With the recent warm weather and more people becoming fully vaccinated, I'm sure folks are itching to do some group rides! If you're interested in leading rides, please send me a direct message and I'll give you "event organizer" permission to do so. I only ask that you follow current public health guidance regarding the pandemic and mention "helmets required" in your ride announcement. If you don't want to be an event organizer but have an idea for a ride (date/time & place), post your suggestion to the "Discussion" section of the Meetup app or website. Then an event organizer can take and run with it once there's consensus on the details.Happy cycling!
Question for the group? I have a light road bike with skinny tires. I recently visited the Greenbelt trail and the trail is rough. Also, are there good spots to road bike with not a lot of traffic? Should I sell my road bike and get a more rugged bike for the rougher bike trails around Boise?
And as things are rapidly changing, please stay up to date with and abide by the guidelines of our local authorities:https://coronavirus.idaho.gov/frequently-asked-questions/
And here's MeetUp.com's CEO, David Siegal, with guidelines and alternatives to meeting in-person. While meeting online may not seem to apply to a cycling group, those with a smart trainers and Zwift accounts could organize online group rides. I hear they're a lot of fun! https://www.meetup.com/blog/supporting-a-community-if-real-life-events-arent-possible/
During this time of the coronavirus outbreak, cycling may be be one of few areas of normalcy in your life. The weather has been getting nicer and as of today, cycling outdoors is still permitted in the Treasure Valley. I just wanted to share a couple articles with food for thought when deciding whether to ride outdoors or join a group ride. 1) Kurt Holzer, a well-known local cycling advocate and lawyer, recently returned from Spain(!) and has some advice on "Cycling in the Age of Coronavirus":https://www.bikelaw.com/2020/03/cycling-in-the-age-of-coronavirus/
In tonight's planning meeting there was some talk about leveraging the road rides on the spinidaho.org site. Sadly that site appears to have gone away. Does anyone know if those rides are still accessible somewhere? A lot of them are pretty well known but that was a nice repository...
Any road cycling trips being planned in the near future? I am new in town and interested in finding some road cyclists to ride with!
Hey! We are heading up to Ketchum this weekend and hoping to get a 50-60 mile bike ride in. Any recs? Sawtooth Relay is happening, so would prefer to avoid Galena Summit. Thanks!
